Hawkesbury Camera Club – Bi Laws / Competition Rules – Printer friendly copy

These By Laws / Competition Rules only relate to competitions arranged by and run by the Hawkesbury Camera Club. Individuals who choose to enter external competitions will be bound by the rules & regulations of those competitions.

ARTICLE 1: Fees

  1. The annual membership fee of the club shall be $30.00
  2. The subscriptions payable shall be reviewed at the Annual General Meeting

ARTICLE 2: Point Scoring Competitions

  1. General Rules
    1. There shall be A and B grade categories open to financial members. A grade members are those members who are experienced in entering camera club competitions. B grade members are those members newer to camera club competitions.
    2. The grading of members will be the responsibility of the committee. Any B grade member who is awarded eight merit awards in one year will automatically be promoted to A grade. Further, any B grade member who accumulates 100 points will then be promoted to A grade in the year following their crossing the 100 point threshold.
    3. All prints must be mounted. No framed prints will be accepted.
    4. There may be Set Subject Competitions and Open Competitions.
    5. An image may be entered into one Open Competition and one Set Subject Competition.
    6. An image that has received a merit award cannot be entered into another point scoring competition during the year. It can be re-entered into the Print/Projected Image End of Year Competition.
    7. Eight (8) entries per competition are allowed, with a maximum of four (4) entries per category. The number of entries per category may be reviewed and altered by the committee at any time.
    8. Images in each category of a competition are awarded;
      • Four points for a Merit
      • Three points for a Credit
      • Two points for an Acceptance
  2. Categories
    1. There will be two (2) categories per A & B grade competition.
      1. Prints – Minimum image size 6” x 4”
      2. Projected
    2. Guidelines for printed images
      1. Minimum image size 6” x 4”
      2. All prints must be mounted. No framed prints will be accepted
      3. Electronic copies of prints must also be supplied on USB for club archives
      4. Electronic copies of prints are to be submitted in JPEG format
      5. Electronic copies of prints are to be labelled accordingly: The word “print_” followed by entrant’s grade (A or B), two digit year of comp (ie. 17 for 2017), two digit month of comp (ie. 05 for May), sequence number of entry in category (1, 2, 3 or 4), entrant’s name [example print_A17051MichelleNichols.jpg].
    3. Guidelines for projected images
      1. Images are to be submitted in JPEG format
      2. There are no restrictions on the pixel dimensions of submitted images.
      3. Images are to be labelled accordingly: entrant’s grade (A or B), two digit year of comp (ie. 17 for 2017), two digit month of comp (ie. 05 for May), sequence number of entry in category (1, 2, 3 or 4), entrant’s name [example A17051MichelleNichols.jpg].
      4. Images are to be supplied on a USB memory stick to be delivered to the projectionist between 7pm & 7.30pm.
    4. Categories may be reviewed and altered by the committee at any time.
  3. Point Scoring Competition Awards
    1. Points are accumulated throughout the year.
    2. At the End of Year Competition, an award will be awarded to the photographer who has accumulated the most points overall.
    3. At the End of Year Competition an award will be awarded to the photographer who has the top point score in each category of both A & B grade competitions.
    4. In the case of tied scores, a count back of merit and credits will be used to determine the winner.
  4. Club Point Awards
    Medallions shall be awarded at the End of Year Competition as follows;
    • Bronze - 50 points
    • Silver - 100 points
    • Gold - 200 points
    • Gold - For each successive 200 points
    Points scored are accumulated indefinitely and continuously whilst a remember remains financial.

ARTICLE 3: Print/Projected End of Year Photographic Awards

  1. At the End of Year Competition, an award will be awarded to the winner and runner up in each category.
  2. Only images that have been submitted into competitions or “show & tell” nights during that year are eligible for this competition. New images cannot be entered into this competition.
  3. Each member may enter eight (8) images, with a maximum or four (4) per category.
  4. Allowable image sizes are the same as for point scoring competitions.
  5. No framed prints will be accepted.
