Hawkesbury Camera Club – Bi Laws / Competition Rules – Printer friendly copy

These By Laws / Competition Rules only relate to competitions arranged by and run by the Hawkesbury Camera Club. Individuals who choose to enter external competitions will be bound by the rules & regulations of those competitions.

ARTICLE 1: Fees

  1. The annual membership fee of the club shall be $35.00
  2. The subscriptions payable shall be reviewed at the Annual General Meeting

ARTICLE 2: Point Scoring Competitions

  1. General Rules
    1. All competitions are open to financial members.
    2. There may be Set Subject Competitions and Open Competitions.
    3. An image may be entered into one Open Competition and one Set Subject Competition.
    4. An image that has received a score of 12 points or more cannot be entered into another point scoring competition during the year. It can be re-entered into the Print/Projected Image End of Year Competition.
    5. Eight (8) entries per competition are allowed, with a maximum of four (4) entries per category. The number of entries per category may be reviewed and altered by the committee at any time.
    6. Images in each category of a competition are awarded a score out of 15 points.
  2. Categories
    1. There will be two (2) categories per competition.
      1. Prints
      2. Projected
    2. Guidelines for printed images
      1. Minimum image size 6” x 4”
      2. All prints must be mounted. No framed prints will be accepted
      3. Electronic copies of prints must also be supplied on USB for club archives
      4. Electronic copies of prints are to be submitted in JPEG format - please remember that if there is no electronic file you will not be awarded any competition points for the print.
      5. Electronic copies of prints are to be labelled accordingly: two digit year of comp (i.e. 21 for 2021), two digit month of comp (i.e. 05 for May), the letter 'P' to indicate a print file, sequence number of entry in category (1, 2, 3 or 4), entrant’s personal number provided by the club; [example 2105P1#67.jpg - with NO spaces in the filename].
    3. Guidelines for projected images
      1. Images are to be submitted in JPEG format
      2. There are no restrictions on the pixel dimensions of submitted images.
      3. Images are to be labelled accordingly: two digit year of comp (i.e. 21 for 2021), two digit month of comp (i.e. 02 for February), the letter 'D' to indicate a Digital (projected) file, sequence number of entry in category (1, 2, 3 or 4), entrant’s # [hash tag] Member’s ID provided by the club; photo title [example 2102D1#67Summer.jpg - with NO spaces in the filename]. The method of labelling files may be changed by the committee at any time without notice.
      4. Images are to be supplied on a USB memory stick to be delivered to the projectionist between 7pm & 7.30pm.
    4. Categories may be reviewed and altered by the committee at any time.
  3. Point Scoring Competition Awards
    1. Points are accumulated throughout the year.
    2. At the End of Year Competition, an award will be presented to the photographer who has accumulated the most points overall.
    3. At the End of Year Competition an award will be presented to the photographer who has the top point score in each of printed and digital competitions.
  4. Club Point Awards
    Points scored are archived and not accumulated for subsequent years.

ARTICLE 3: Print/Projected End of Year Photographic Awards

  1. At the End of Year Competition, there will be an award to the winner and runner up in each category.
  2. Only images that have been submitted into competitions or show & tell / evaluation nights, Children’s Ward selection, Geoff Pfister Award, during that year are eligible for this competition. New images cannot be entered into this competition.
  3. Each member may enter eight (8) images, with a maximum of four (4) per category.
  4. Allowable image sizes are the same as for point scoring competitions.
  5. Images must be presented in the same format originally entered during the year. Eg., as in printed or projected and also without any further modification.
  6. No framed prints will be accepted.
  7. Depending on the category entered, all image files are to be named in accordance with sections 2-2-B-v and 2-2-C-iii.
